Our standard system uses 220 mm aluminium louvres on 170 mm posts — built for big spans and rated to 120 km/h of wind. Here is what it is made of, how it can be set up, and what you can add.

Configurations
Four ways to set it up
Freestanding
Four posts carry the roof anywhere in the garden, by the pool or on a rooftop — no wall needed.
Wall-mounted
One side is fixed to the house, so only the front posts touch the ground. The wall must take fixings, and under eaves we leave about 150 mm for the louvres to open.
Spliced modules
Bigger or L-shaped areas are joined from several modules at 90° or 45°; neighbouring modules can share a post.
Overhanging
The roof can cantilever up to 500 mm beyond the posts for a lighter look and extra cover.

Three profile sizes
The 220 mm profile is our standard. The lighter 168 mm and 183 mm profiles suit smaller roofs — ask us whether one fits your project.

Make the roof a room
Motorised zip screens
Side screens that roll down between the posts for shade, privacy and wind — 5 % or 30 % openness fabric, or full blackout.
Glass sliding doors & fixed glass
Turn the roof into an all-weather room. Frames come in a range of finishes.
LED lighting
Linear LEDs in the louvres, gutter or posts — warm 3 800 K or white 4 000 K, dimmable; RGB on request.
Wind, sun & rain sensor
A weather sensor for the controller, so the roof can react to rain and wind.
Wi-Fi app control
Add the Wi-Fi module to set the louvres from an iPhone or Android phone, alongside the remote.
Heater & ceiling fan
Mounted on a cross-beam — tell us at design stage so the beam is in the drawings.
Privacy slat wall & louvre shutters
Aluminium side walls in the same finish, fixed slats or adjustable shutters.
Roman posts, crown gutter & decking
Decorative posts, a crown gutter trim and WPC decking to finish the space.

Planning your site
What we check before we draw
Our designers look at these with you — from photos first, then on site.
Foundations
Posts bolt to a concrete slab. On lawn or loose paving we cast concrete footings about 0.5 m deep at each post; posts can also be set 300–500 mm into the ground.
Walls & eaves
A wall-mounted roof needs a wall that can take fixings. Under an eave we keep about 150 mm clear so the louvres can open fully.
Big spans
Roofs longer than one module (6.05 m) are spliced, and a long span may need a middle post — we show you where in the drawings.
Power
The louvre motor draws 40 W, each motorised zip screen about 170 W and LED strips about 10 W per metre. One mains supply feeds the control box; the wiring runs hidden inside the frame and posts.
